Cybertruck was inspired by…a car submarine?

Lotus Esprit Submarine

Many of us may wonder where the inspiration came from for the out of this world Cybertruck. Well wonder no more. Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, has revealed on Twitter that the appearance of the Tesla Cybertruck was inspired by an obscure car submarine featured in a James Bond movie.

Featured in the 1977 Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me was a Lotus Esprit-based submarine car. In the film James Bond launches his Lotus Esprit into the ocean and with the flick of a switch it transforms to a submarine to help Bond and Bond Girl co-star Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) survive underwater whilst they hid from the helicopter that was chasing them.

There is no word yet on whether Musk will make the Cybertruck amphibious!
